The world’s fastest garden cart was built in England

On the runway of a former military airfield, it was able to accelerate to 84 kilometers per hour. The cart was built by 35-year-old mechanic Dylan Phillips. At first it all looked like just another joke, but after test runs, the creator of the amazing vehicle decided to go to the Straightliners Speed Week races.

Englishman Dylan Phillips set a speed record for motorized garden wheelbarrows, writes the website 110km.ru. At the Straightliners Speed Week event, which is held at a former RAF airfield, he was able to accelerate the trolley he built to 84.627 kilometers per hour. According to Phillips, like most crazy ideas, this one came to him over a glass of beer. He built the car for fun, but after a series of test runs, when it reached 60 kilometers per hour, it was decided to go for the record.

Dylan Phillips Faster, higher, stronger: new records

It so happened that Phillips broke not just some record, but a Guinness Book record, and by as much as 10 kilometers per hour. “I feel on top of the world,” Dylan shares his impressions. “Everyone likes my car. And you won’t be able to stop smiling when you see her. The truth is, it’s all funny and stupid, but when stupidity is done right, it can be damn entertaining.”

In general, stranger vehicles than a car with a motor have been included in the Guinness Book of Books. For example, a shopping cart equipped with a modified engine starter from an American Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter. Or a log with a suspension from a Mazda RX-7 and a 35-horsepower electric motor, on which Canadian Brian Reed accelerated to 76 kilometers per hour on a log.
