According to rumors, its circulation will be 20-25 copies (according to other sources – 50), and the price will be close to 500 thousand dollars. It is expected that the production car will be based on the M8 Competition Convertible, which means it will receive a V8 4.4 twin-turbo engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. However, the final decision has not yet been made, and Skytop may well share its fate with another concept – the Touring Coupe.

Rumors about the possible launch of the luxury BMW Skytop Targa once again confirm that history is cyclical. After all, the same thing was said about last year’s BMW Touring Coupe concept, which, like the Skytop, celebrated its premiere at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance. The public greeted the car with delight. She was promised a circulation of fifty copies and a price of about 250 thousand dollars. However, it was still not possible to get the green light from management.

Now it’s the turn of the Skytop, which, according to a new round of rumors, could become a limited-edition model costing half a million dollars. The circulation of the Targa will be less than that of the BMW 3.0 CSL – 20 or 25 copies. Well, the basis will most likely be the M8 Competition Convertible. In this case, the two-door will have a 4.4 V8 engine with 625 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, combined with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive.

For now, Skytop is just a concept car. And beyond the body style, it features the industry’s thinnest LED headlights. The color scheme of the design is chosen in such a way that the exterior flows smoothly into the interior, and decorative perforations are made along the seams of the interior upholstery – the so-called punching, like on brogues. As if cast from metal, the targa looks like the direct opposite of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed. But in terms of exclusivity it could be a good competitor.
