Toyota Frontlander appeared in Russia – let’s figure out what kind of model it is

Frontlander was brought from China, where this crossover has been sold for several years and is a local analogue of the Corolla Cross. Frontlander production is established at the Toyota-GAC joint venture, including a modification with a two-liter engine with a capacity of 171 horsepower, the sale announcement of which drew the attention of Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The Frontlander is based on the TNGA-C platform, the same one on which the Corolla and its derivatives, including the Cross version, are based. The Frontlander has front-wheel drive, leather trim, adaptive cruise control, climate control, an electric sunroof, an electromechanical parking brake with an automatic hold function and a rear view camera with dynamic marking lines. The seller set a price of 3,750,000 rubles and promises a warranty for a period of 1 year or 25 thousand kilometers.

In parallel with the Frontlander, the Corolla Cross itself is sold in China, but it is produced by another joint venture – Toyota-FAW. And it can also be bought in Russia: for example, exactly a year ago such a crossover cost 3.8 million rubles, and the price has not changed – several dealers are now ready to sell the 2023 model without mileage for the same amount. But with delivery from China, the car will cost less – 2.5-3 million rubles.

Meanwhile, in Russia the number of cars imported through parallel import is decreasing. This is due to the fact that the domestic automobile market has managed to recover over the past year and a half, and most dealers have changed their direction from “gray” European models to official cars from China. Thus, two large dealer holdings have already stopped transporting cars through parallel imports – Avtodom and AvtoSpetsTsentr.
