At the disposal of CarBuzz was a new photo of the updated Golf, which, according to journalists, was taken at a private event. The picture shows a hatchback without camouflage: it has even narrower front optics and a different bumper design – presumably, this is the “sporty” R-Line equipment. The public premiere of the model will take place later this year.

The current eighth generation Volkswagen Golf has been on the market since 2019, and it’s time for a planned mid-life update. Moreover, the upcoming restyling will be the last for the model – there will be no ninth generation, since it will be discontinued.

As for the updated Golf, at the beginning of the summer the novelty was brought to the tests without camouflage, so the changes that will occur in the design of the car are no longer a surprise. The model has a bumper with a different central air intake, narrower optics and new taillight graphics. A larger screen will appear in the cabin, and physical buttons have been returned to the steering wheel – this was requested by customers themselves who did not like the solution with touch controls on the steering wheel.

It is officially confirmed that the restyled Golf will go on sale in early 2024, which means that the premiere can be expected at the end of 2023. The model will remain in service for a few more years, after which Volkswagen will remove it from production. At the same time, the company does not intend to abandon the name Golf – according to rumors, it will be inherited by an electric car.
