The British YouTube channel Carwow organized a drag race between two flagship versions of the BMW X7 crossover – bloggers chose another “maximum” modification – the M50d with a diesel engine – to compete with the top-end petrol version of the M60i. The difference in power and weight clearly showed which type of power plant is preferable for racing in a straight line. Even with the participation of models that are unsuitable for such exercises, such as crossovers.

The BMW X7 M50d is equipped with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine developing 400 horsepower and 760 Nm. The engine works in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, and this crossover weighs 2460 kilograms.

The BMW X7 M60i has a 4.4-liter V8 petrol turbo engine that produces 530 horsepower and 750 Nm. Its transmission and drive type are the same as its diesel rival, but the gasoline model weighs 2,675 kilograms. So, although the M60i is more powerful than the M50d, the latter is lighter and more torquey.
