From this collection, as usual, you will learn the five main automotive news. Everything is just the most interesting: BMW showed the new generation 1 Series, AvtoVAZ presented the Lada Iskra, Rivian released the new R1S SUV and R1T pickup, AvtoVAZ made a new electric car based on the Lada Niva Travel, and the Volkswagen ID.7 became more powerful and longer-range.

BMW 1 Series changed generation, lost “mechanics” and the letter i

The new BMW of the first series was left without a manual gearbox. The Bavarians showed the fourth generation hatchback, which has grown in size and received a new exterior, although the changes are more of a cosmetic nature. Along with the regular 1 Series, the “hot” all-wheel drive version M135 also moved into the next generation. The range of “smart” assistants has grown, but there is now only one transmission – a Steptronic robotic gearbox with double clutch.

AvtoVAZ presented Lada Iskra

The premiere of Lada Iskra took place. The new model, which is destined to subsequently replace the Lada Granta in the AvtoVAZ lineup, has finally made its debut. It was shown at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. “Iskra” received a design with a signature X-shaped front end and “carved” headlights. It will be sold in sedan, station wagon and Cross versions with VAZ 1.6-liter engines.

Rivian introduced the R1S SUV and the new generation R1T pickup truck

Rivian’s electric SUVs have changed a generation. They have improved equipment, aerodynamics and increased power: for four-engine electric cars, output has increased to an impressive 1039 horsepower and 1622 Nm of torque. The cars also received two new batteries, Rivian’s own autonomous control system and Connect+ online services, which provide access to three thousand applications and an extensive Apple Music catalog.

Electric Lada Niva Travel: first photos appeared

AvtoVAZ presented a new electric car based on Lada Niva Travel. The battery-powered crossover was brought, among other new Lada products (namely the new Iskra model), to St. Petersburg and presented at SPIEF-2024. In a conversation with Motor, an AvtoVAZ representative said that official details would appear in the afternoon, but for now the e-Niva – and this is the name given to the electric Niva Travel – can be seen in the photographs published by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
