As TASS reports, citing an unnamed source, the new brand will unite all Yandex projects related to unmanned vehicles and delivery robots. An application for registration of the trademark “Autonomous transport” has already been submitted to Rospatent. The autonomous transport direction will be responsible for the development of software and components, as well as the creation of robots and self-driving cars.

Yandex began testing self-driving cars almost seven years ago. In 2018, drones were launched in Innopolis (Republic of Tatarstan) and Moscow; in the summer of 2019, a drone development office was opened in Israel, and in 2020 – in Michigan, USA. In March 2022, tests in the United States were suspended, after which information appeared that Yandex had laid off employees at its local representative office. In 2023, it became known that the international subsidiary of Yandex began testing driverless cars in Serbia – the drones were launched in test mode in the New Belgrade area.

In the summer of the same year, unmanned Yandex taxis appeared on the roads of Moscow. The taxi operates in the Yasenevo area from seven in the morning until one in the morning, is available for adult passengers and costs 100 rubles regardless of the drop-off point. A test driver rides in the taxi with the client – he monitors safety during the trip.

As for delivery robots, the first one was created in 2019. In 2024, robots are already roaming around Moscow with all their might, delivering parcels and products from Yandex services.
