The new Atlas has finally received the long-awaited AWD modification – sales will start very soon, but in the meantime, the Russian representative office of Geely shared information about the new product. The crossover received a sixth-generation automatically connected all-wheel drive system, which independently varies and directs thrust to the axles in a ratio of up to 50:50.

Geely Atlas, which the company itself positions as a new generation of Atlas Pro, entered the Russian market at the end of January this year. With the change of generation, the model moved from the NL-3 platform to the CMA architecture, the same one that underlies Tugella and Monjaro. If we compare the Atlas with its predecessor, it is much larger and closer in technology to the Volvo. The highlight of the crossover is a futuristic exterior design with a large frameless radiator grille, narrow blocks of daytime running lights integrated into it and a luminous Geely emblem (in the top configuration).

The new Atlas is available in Russia with a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine, which for our market was derated from 218 to 200 horsepower. The gearbox is a seven-speed preselective “robot” with a wet dual clutch. At the first stage, the model was offered exclusively in a front-wheel drive version, but now the Russians have finally received an all-wheel drive version. Moreover, instead of a “robot”, this crossover is equipped with an eight-speed Aisin automatic transmission with a torque converter.

The all-wheel drive Atlas has one more difference from the mono-wheel drive. In addition to the four standard driving modes – Comfort, Eco, Sport, Intelligent – two more have been added: Offroad mode is perfect for light off-road, and the Snow mode will help the driver when driving in winter. Well, externally, an all-wheel drive crossover can be recognized by the AWD nameplate on the tailgate.

Geely said that the AWD version will be offered in the same three trim levels as the front-wheel drive Atlas – Luxury, Flagship and Flagship Sport. The model is covered by the automaker’s standard warranty of five years or 150 thousand kilometers, whichever comes first.

Prices will be announced a little later.
