The Japanese automaker has revealed all the information about the business sedan in the European specification. There were no surprises: on both sides of the ocean they will offer a Camry with the same appearance, and Europeans will not be able to choose the option with a sports package. The power plant has no alternative: Toyota relied on a front-wheel drive “plug-free” HEV hybrid based on a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine.
In Europe, Toyota offered essentially the same car as in the US, the difference is in the finishing touches. The headlights lost their characteristic orange inserts, and fog lights were added in the Old World. The option with a honeycomb radiator grille, round exhaust pipes and a bright sporty interior design will not be offered in the European Union: only ordinary bumpers and a conservative black finish.

The HEV-type power plant consists of a 2.5-liter engine, two electric motors and an electromechanical variator. European sedans are not equipped with all-wheel drive. Output is almost the same as in the US: peak 231 horsepower. Compared to its predecessor, the 0-100 acceleration time has been reduced by 0.4 seconds to 7.9 seconds. Fuel consumption data will be published in the spring.

The basic sedan for Europe will receive a simplified virtual dashboard with a seven-inch screen, but you won’t have to pay extra for a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging for gadgets, adaptive cruise control, lane control and automatic braking systems. There will not be an affordable Toyota Camry: the four-door of the outgoing generation costs in Spain from 44 thousand euros (48.2 thousand dollars), and the new product will definitely not become cheaper.
In Europe, Toyota Camry sales leave much to be desired, and given the pricing, this is not surprising. It is expected that in the USA the new sedan in the basic version will cost one and a half times cheaper – around 30 thousand dollars. And the Chinese price list was completely surprising: after the change of generations, the sedan has become cheaper, and the hybrid costs from 181,800 yuan (25.6 thousand dollars).
