For this purpose, a 15-year-old Kia Magentis was borrowed from the plant’s corporate fleet. The sedan’s internal combustion engine and gearbox were removed and replaced with a universal traction electric motor, battery pack and other components, writes the Avtopotok Telegram channel. The result of the rework was recently demonstrated to the acting governor of the Kaliningrad region, Alexey Besprozvannykh.

As reported by the press service of the Kaliningrad Region government, the acting governor visited Avtotor on June 27. The plant is currently preparing to launch the production of “deeply localized efficient traction electric motors in the range from 23 to 150 kilowatts.” “Projects on power electronics, control systems in an electric vehicle, and gearbox localization are at a high level of readiness,” the government’s official statement says.

Besprozvannykh called the plant “the flagship of the development of electric mobility” in the region and noted that the enterprise “is developing competencies in this area, participating in the achievement of technological sovereignty.”

Avtotor told how it will convert cars with internal combustion engines into electric cars Avtotor presented an electric sedan with a power reserve of more than 500 kilometers The Amberauto electric car from Avtotor can now be bought in Russia: prices are known

As for the remotorization project – converting used cars into electric cars – details about it appeared last year. Then Avtotor announced that it would install electric motors of its own design on old cars with a capacity of 31 to 163 horsepower. The project partner is the state corporation Rosatom.

It is assumed that the kits can be installed at any service station; on average, the service will cost up to a thousand euros (slightly less than 100 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate), but only if they are launched on a mass scale.

At the same time, Avtotor produces electric vehicles under its own brand, Avmberavto. An electric sedan with index 5 has already arrived on the assembly line – also known as the Chinese JMEV Yi, or Mobilize Limo.
