The Chery concern announced the start of a strategic partnership with the Jaguar Land Rover concern, but in a rather unusual way. If traditionally the Chinese auto industry has borrowed some units or solutions from European brands, this time the movement will go in the opposite direction – from East to West. As part of the new collaboration, Exeed’s hybrid and electric platforms will be used in future Jaguar Land Rover models.

According to the Exeed press service, the Chairman of the Board of Chery Automobile, Yin Tongyue, officially confirmed rumors that the cooperation between Exeed and Jaguar Land Rover has become a reality. The British company’s promising vehicles will be built on the E0X Pure Electric and M3X Super Hybrid platforms. The E0X platform provides consumption of 12 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers for sedans and 13.6 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers for crossovers.

E0X has also received Healthy 5A Cockpit certification because it is more than 95 percent recyclable. The platform is said to combine a lightweight aluminum chassis, double wishbone front suspension and five-link rear suspension. The M3X platform includes the industry’s first three-speed 3DHT hybrid powertrain.

It is China’s first dual-motor drive system integrated into a three-stage design, offering nine operating modes and 11 combination gears. The powertrain also supports Brake Energy Regeneration and Intelligent Driving Optimization – whatever that means. The dates for the appearance of the first Jaguar Land Rover models on Exeed platforms have not yet been announced, but this will happen in the near future, since the British have set a course for the electrification of the model range.
