At the end of November, Russians bought more than 36 thousand Lada cars: this is the first monthly drop in sales for the brand in six months. Thus, in the last month of autumn, 11.9 percent fewer cars were sold than in October. If we compare the result with November 2022, then sales, on the contrary, increased by 65.9 percent. Such data is contained in the monthly report of AvtoVAZ.

Lada sales on the Russian market have been growing for six months – from 23,904 cars in May to a 10-year record 40,912 in October. However, in November, demand decreased: dealers sold 36,054 units. At the same time, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, initially said that the plan for November was 37.5 thousand cars, but towards the end of the month other figures were announced, 35-36 thousand cars, since sales volumes (not only Lada) were influenced by the growth of the key rates.

At the same time, AvtoVAZ records an increase in sales for all models in annual terms. The brand’s bestseller remains the Granta, which sold 17,273 units in the previous month. This is 32.7 percent more than in November 2022. Vesta NG sold 7,980 copies in November, and a total of 41,395 such cars have been sold since the start of production of the model in March.

The results of the Niva family are as follows: sales of Niva Legend amounted to 4,973 units (+54.3 percent by November 2022), and Niva Travel – 5,175 units (+40.8 percent). Also in November, 505 commercial Ladas were sold, which is 43.9 percent more than in the same month last year.

At the end of last week, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, told reporters that there was a “cooling in demand”, which was the target of the Central Bank’s decision to increase the key rate. In total, in January-November, the Russian auto giant sold 319,518 new Ladas, which is almost twice as much (94.1 percent) as in the same period last year.
