British company Boreham Motorworks has signed an agreement with Ford to create an exclusive line of classic sports cars reimagined in a modern way. First up will be the Escort Mk1 and RS200, with the latter returning on the 40th anniversary of its debut. Both cars in the new interpretation will retain internal combustion engines and will be produced in a very limited edition.

For now, the cars can only be seen under the covers. However, as far as we can tell, the Escort Mk1 and RS200 reincarnations will retain the proportions of the originals. Massive wheel arches are visible, as well as modern LED optics.

The RS200 will have a composite body, permanent all-wheel drive and remain mid-engine. It is expected that almost every element of the chassis will be modified to some extent to match the sports cars of our time. There are no details about the Escort yet, except that they promised to assign it VIN numbers that continue the numbering of the original.

The RS200 will be revealed before the end of the year, with the Escort Mk1 arriving later. The price has not yet been announced, but Boreham mentioned a “very limited edition”, which hints at the high cost. Orders are already being accepted.

Subsequently, the company wants to revive five more classic Fords. Since both the Escort and RS200 were produced by a European division, we can assume that the others will also come from Europe: that is, among the resurrected Fords could be, for example, the Sierra Cosworth and the Mk2 Escort RS2000.

Earlier it became known that Land Rover is going to revive the Freelander. True, only the name will remain from it: an electric car (or rather, a whole line) will see the light of day, which will be built on the platform of the Chinese Chery. Freelander will be assembled in China and initially sold only there.
