The European line of commercial Fords is moving into the 2024 model year. The main upgrade is the replacement of a 6-speed automatic with an 8-speed one. As before, two-pedal options are only available for front-wheel drive vans, but the payload has increased by 700 kilograms. The permissible total mass of a road train with a trailer has increased to 6,000 kilograms (+ 1,750 kilograms).

The automaker promises that the updated vans will have more powerful and lighter brakes, as well as upgraded 16-inch wheels with new hubs. The brake system has become easier to maintain: you can change the mechanisms on all four wheels in just two hours. Another upgrade is a media system with a 12-inch touchscreen instead of an 8-inch one.

The increase in the touch display is unlikely to appeal to drivers, because the analog climate control is no longer there. The virtual dashboard is not suitable for everyone either: now there are no classic instruments even in the basic configuration.

But the Delivery Assist add-on will help couriers: from now on, the car will be able to automatically restart and turn off the emergency gang after the driver has returned to the cab and pressed the brake pedal. The developers say that the feature will save 20 seconds on each delivery.

The European Ford Transit is available with a non-alternative 2.0-liter turbodiesel in output options from 105 to 185 horsepower. Sales of the updated vans will begin in July, but deliveries will be delayed for a year: they plan to ship the upgraded vehicles from the Turkish plant from the summer of 2024.
