It was shown at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum by the Yurent company, one of the largest Russian kick-sharing operators. State Duma deputy Vladislav Davankov proposed creating an “electric scooter police” last week. The reaction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is still unknown, but Yurent took up the idea and assured that it was ready to transfer “police scooters” for use by law enforcement officers.

The presented model is a regular scooter model Ninebot S90L, which is available in the kick-sharing fleet. The model for the police did not receive any changes, except for the white color and blue “DPS” inscription.

The S90L is equipped with turn signals, two dashboard screens displaying speed, charge level and data on “slow” zones, as well as other safety systems. If Davankov’s proposal receives the green light, the company is ready to provide such electric scooters to police officers, Yurent notes.

“I work for the state”: new products from China in the garages of the FSO, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB Three quarters of Muscovites spoke out against electric scooters In Russia they want to introduce “speed bumps” for electric scooters

The deputy proposed to form an “electric scooter police” – a new department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that would monitor the movement of citizens on electric scooters in large cities. However, he did not say that they themselves should ride scooters: his letter to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs only noted that they should patrol pedestrian and public areas.

As an argument, Davankov pointed to public discontent with scooters. According to surveys, 73 percent of Moscow residents have a negative attitude towards them, and half want to ban them completely. Only 20 percent agree that scooters have made it more convenient to move around the city.
