Igor Povarazdnyuk, CEO of the Kama company, which is responsible for the development of the new domestic electric vehicle Atom, shared new information about the project. In particular, he announced the preliminary cost of the model – from 2.9 to four million rubles, excluding government subsidies. In addition, he cited the example of the Chinese Zeekr, which has a similar approach: the model will have premium options, but at the same time it will perform in the mass segment.

Sales of the new product will be carried out through an online platform, and anyone can test the Atom in carsharing. In other words, the brand will not have a dealer network in the usual sense, but there will be service centers for servicing and repairing electric cars.

“If we talk about the current market for domestic electric vehicles, then from public price lists we see that the approximate price range is from 2.9-4 million rubles without taking into account government subsidies, and we do not plan to go beyond this range,” said the general director. Kama” in a conversation with TASS. As for the mentioned government subsidies, Atom intends to participate in all support programs, Povarazdnyuk said.

It is expected that the electric vehicle will have a high level of localization – already at the start of production it will be 60-70 percent “or even higher,” according to Kama.

It is promised a second-level driver assistance system, and in the future it may even become unmanned. “Of course, the foundation of the ADAS system lays the possibility of further growth to an unmanned vehicle, we have the competence for this,” he explained. However, the adoption of driverless technology “needs to be right.” “It is important that this is not a technological end in itself, but that people can use this functionality here and now,” added the general director of Kama.

Atom will enter the market in 2025, its assembly will be set up at the Moskvich plant. The electric car will be equipped with an ADAS 2+ system with 18 functions, including autonomous parking, lane keeping system, adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. It is planned that by 2027 the electric car will move to the third level, which assumes that the driver can not interfere with the control process.
