As RIA Novosti reports with reference to Moskvich production director Oleg Maslyakov, the capital’s plant intends to actively develop the infrastructure for electric transport. To this end, Moskvich, in cooperation with the Moscow government, will produce charging stations for electric cars for the needs of Moscow and other regions.

The fact that Moskvich is exploring the possibility of producing charging stations first became known in the summer of this year. Then it was reported that the plant could produce about two thousand stationary stations, of which approximately 800 would be equipped with a fast charging function. Then the cost of the project was estimated at 60 million rubles.

Currently, Moskvich produces only one electric model – the Moskvich 3e crossover, also known as the Chinese JAC E40X. According to official data, it has a 193-horsepower electric motor (maximum 30-minute power is 68 horsepower), and a 65.7-kilowatt-hour battery charge lasts for 410 kilometers. Charging an electric car from a household outlet takes 6.5 hours, and a fast one – 1.5 hours (from 20 to 80 percent – 45 minutes). During 2024, the Moskvich 3e may be joined by another battery model, an electric modification of the Moskvich 6.

Other Russian factories that produce electric vehicles, Lipetsk Motorinvest and Kaliningrad Avtotor, also intend to develop their own production of charging stations. The first produces Chinese electric cars Dongfeng under the Russian brand Evolute, and the second plans to assemble electric models of several Chinese brands and a battery model of its own design.
