According to the Kommersant publication, the corresponding instructions were given by the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. By December 1, 2023, Rosavtodor, regional authorities, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the state company Avtodor must present solutions that will reduce the number of road accidents in Russia. The new plan includes improving the quality of rural roads and developing intelligent transport systems.

Experts expect to reduce road accidents by installing additional speed bumps and traffic lights with a button. In addition, in Russia there will be more noise strips at the entrances to turns, as well as new “Direction of Traffic” signs. According to Marat Khusnullin, innovations will reduce the number of cars leaving the highways.

At the same time, more traffic cameras will be installed in emergency areas in Russia. The new complexes are planned to be put into operation by the spring of 2024. The government has earmarked money for individual federal projects to improve the safety and quality of roads. Next year they plan to spend 11 billion rubles from the budget on improving the quality of rural roads, as well as more than three billion rubles on the development of intelligent transport systems.

At the beginning of August, the Avtodor company announced plans to apply experimental road markings. According to experts, chevrons will allow drivers to navigate traffic faster.
