The Cochespias portal shared official photos of the five-door on the eve of the presentation. The exterior and interior are no longer a secret, and Renault designers risked implementing almost all the ideas of the bold concept from three years ago on the production version. The hatchback will only be offered as an electric car with a power reserve of up to 400 kilometers. The parameters of the power plant will be announced tomorrow.

On the way to the assembly line, Renault 5 remained virtually unchanged: traditional front door handles were added, headlight graphics were simplified, a wiper appeared on the fifth door, and parking sensors were installed on the bumpers. However, the general idea remains the same: look at the headlights with a comb pattern, the bold 18-inch two-tone wheels, the eye-catching decor on the front doors or the “dotted” daytime running lights.

The similarity with the legendary Renault R5 Turbo is purely visual, and in the interior the new product largely replicates other electric cars and hybrids of the brand. An important nuance is the absence of an L-shaped infotainment complex with a portrait-oriented touchscreen. The hatchback also has an unusual coating on the door panels and seats, but the steering wheel is borrowed from mass-produced models.

The automaker confirmed that the Renault 5 E-Tech will be about four meters long, and the electric car will be equipped with battery packs with a capacity of 40 or 52 kilowatt-hours. A larger battery will be offered from the very beginning of sales. The “five” is based on a new modular CMF-BEV platform with a multi-link rear suspension.

The expected price of the Renault 5 E-Tech in Europe is 25 thousand euros (2.5 million rubles), that is, the new product will play in the same segment with the Peugeot e-208 and Volkswagen ID.2. More details will be announced tomorrow. Over time, the hatchback will have a “charged” version under the Alpine subsidiary brand.
