The classic Ford Mustang is popular among American muscle car enthusiasts and tuning shops, who use the model as the basis for projects. The work of the company Velocity Modern Classics, which prepared a restomod sleeper, stands out – the new Velocity Mustang Convertible has modern units and a more comfortable interior, but does not show its potential in any way. The fastback starts at $299,900, while the convertible top version is $30,000 more expensive.
To create the restomod, the original Mustang was completely disassembled and mounted on the Roadster Shop’s Mustang SPEC chassis, which includes power rack-and-pinion steering, front sway bars and independent front suspension, making the car more suitable for modern conditions. The tuner installed a four-link rear suspension and Fox coilovers front and rear, a new rear axle and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels a la Magnum 500 with Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires.
Classic Ford Mustang converted into a convertible SUV
The car was coated with BASF Glasurit paint, equipped with a ventilated hood with integrated side lights, updated chrome, and installed new LED headlights and lights. Under the hood appeared a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 Ford Coyote with a power of 460 horsepower and a torque of 569 Nm. Power is transmitted through either a 10-speed automatic transmission or a T-56 6-speed manual transmission, depending on customer preference.

A Borla exhaust complements the V8 engine, and stopping power comes from four-piston Baer calipers and 11-inch brake rotors. The interior features new Procar bucket seats that can be heated and ventilated, and a new bench seat in the rear. The interior features Vintage Air air conditioning, a RetroSound head unit, new Focal speakers and subwoofer, and a new retro-style Dakota Digital instrument cluster. The soft top is available in brown, tan, black or cream to match the owner’s choice of leather interior shade.
