Buick has unveiled its new GL8 plug-in hybrid minivan in China. The car is 5219 mm long, 1878 mm wide and 1807 mm high, and the wheelbase reaches 3088 mm.

The cabin greets the driver with a minimalist instrument panel with hidden air vents, as well as a 30-inch curved display. Judging by the photos, the Buick GL8’s interior boasts perforated Nappa leather upholstery, as well as heated and ventilated front seats. Passengers benefit from a 128-color lighting system, Smart Touch controls, tri-zone climate control and an 8- or 14-speaker audio system.

There will be several options for cabin layout: all versions have heating and ventilation, but the so-called “airplane” seats also have a massage function.

In addition to comfortable seats, passengers in the second row will find folding tables next to them, as well as a 15.6-inch display of the entertainment system that supports wireless screen projection from smartphones. There are also cup holders, a wireless smartphone charger and a compartment that can cool things down to 5°C or heat them up to 50°C.

The Buick GL8 is powered by a hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, battery and electric motor, and has a total output of 392 hp. and 580 Nm of torque. Despite these astonishing figures, the 0-100 km/h sprint takes 7.8 seconds. In addition, the van can travel up to 138 km on electricity.

Prices for the new product in China start from $49,668 (~4.6 million rubles) and can reach $57,948 (~5.4 million rubles) for the top-end six-seater version.
