Auto giant BYD is preparing to enter the market Yangwang U7, a flagship electric sedan that will receive a 1306-horsepower electric power plant consisting of four electric motors. To demonstrate the potential of the new product, the company decided to follow the beaten path and copy the European commercial. The inspiration comes from the iconic ad showing an Audi all-wheel drive climbing up a ski jump.

The Audi 100 CS Quattro sedan climbed a 77 percent ramp in the Finnish town of Kaipola in 1986. The promotional video quickly gained popularity and subsequently the German automaker itself repeated a similar trick several times with its new models.

But this time the video was reimagined in China. BYD Yangwang U7 entered a 76 percent slope at Yabuli Ski Resort. During the filming, the electric car conquered the climb both on studded tires and on friction tires, and both races took place in frosts of over 20 degrees, which affected the efficiency of the battery.
