As part of the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, the premiere of a new Lexus concept car, called the LF-ZC, will take place. This is a one-volume car with an electric power plant that can travel up to 1000 kilometers on a single battery charge. The new product not only demonstrates the development of the design of “green” Lexus models, but also has every chance of becoming serial in about three years.

The LF-ZC is a 4.75-metre hatchback with a short rear overhang, low ground clearance and an impressive drag coefficient of 0.2. The body consists of three one-piece forged elements that are welded together, and the basis is a fundamentally new architecture with a flat traction battery. So far, Lexus has only said that the electric car has all-wheel drive and is controlled by wires—the steering wheel is not physically connected to the wheels.

Inside, the LF-ZC has a digital instrument panel, and two additional screens are installed on either side of the steering wheel. The one on the left displays information about the power plant, and you can also control the electronics from it. The right one is reserved for climate system settings and interaction with the voice assistant. There is also a large head-up display and a rectangular touchscreen for the multimedia system, shifted towards the front passenger. Lexus notes that the latest Arene operating system debuted on the LF-ZC, but does not provide any further details about the equipment.

In addition to the LF-ZC, Lexus has also prepared a larger LF-ZL concept with a length of 5.3 meters, which looks more like a crossover. Unlike the LF-ZC, the crossover is unlikely to go into production – it only demonstrates the vision of the future flagship of the Japanese brand.
