Sales of the electric Moskvich 3e were lower than expected. Electric crossovers are not being bought as willingly as we would like, TASS reports citing KamAZ General Director Sergei Kogogin. However, its sales “in any case” will exceed the mark of two thousand copies in 2023, Kogogin is sure. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, Moskvich has managed to sell only 1.4 thousand electric vehicles: that is, for the rest of December it needs to sell at least 600 more.

In total, since January, Moskvich has sold about 13 thousand cars, of which 11.5 thousand are with gasoline engines.

“If we say whether I am satisfied with the sales result, our expectations were probably higher,” Kogogin said. According to him, the main reason for the low demand is that the process of signing a special investment contract was delayed: as a result, a subsidy for electric cars was received only in the fourth quarter of the year.

At the same time, the inclusion of Moskvich in KamAZ’s SPIC was reported back in August. This made it possible to add the model to the preferential car loan program, under which you can get a 25 percent discount (but not more than 625 thousand rubles) when applying for a loan. In the fall, the discount increased to 35 percent (925 thousand rubles maximum).

Now “Muscovites” are Chinese JACs assembled using the SKD method. Next year, the company wants to master welding and painting of bodies, and in 2026 – introduce domestic engines, batteries and other elements.
