The first E53 generation car rolled off the assembly line at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina on September 1, 1999, which marked the birth of the BMW X5. On the occasion of the upcoming 25th anniversary, the brand decided to release the first “off-road” version in the history of the model – the anniversary car in the Silver Anniversary Edition acquired the xOffroad Package, which increases the potential on rough terrain. It is based on the xDrive40i version, which received an exclusive Lime Rock Gray color and a badge on the door.

The dark exterior trim is borrowed from the M Sport version, while the carbon fiber trim in the cabin is from the X5 M60i and the full-fledged X5 M Competition. A special nameplate in front of the gear selector indicates the special status of the model. The xOffroad package, offered as standard, includes air suspension with a mechanical locking rear differential and additional underbody protection, increased ground clearance and four new driving modes: xSnow, xSand, xGravel and xRocks.

Each of them has preset settings for ride height, traction control, transmission shifting, acceleration response and other parameters. The equipment includes xOffroad Camera with the xOffroad View option, which allows you to see on the dashboard at speeds up to 35 kilometers per hour a picture of the surrounding area, which can be supplemented with information about the inclination of the car or the slope of the road, the roll angle and the current ground clearance.

Starting in August, BMW will produce approximately 1,000 units of the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition for the US market. The special edition costs $81,075, which is $11,900 more than the base xDrive40i. Included in the price is a roof rack, trailer hitch, all-weather floor mats and a boot mat.
