The American team Hoonigan, which in addition to preparing cars for racing, also runs its own blog, presented a new episode of its project This vs. That. In the new straight race, bloggers tested the modern mid-engine supercar Corvette Z06, which was rivaled by the classic Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchback of the Mk2 generation, quite seriously modified to compete on an equal footing with full-fledged Chevrolet supercars.

The 2023 mid-engine Corvette Z06 is equipped with a 670-horsepower naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The rear-wheel drive coupe weighs just over 1,600 kilograms.

The 1992 German hatchback is lighter – about 1,250 kilograms – and yet almost as powerful as its American competitor. Under the hood of the Golf GTI Mk2 is a 600-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 turbo engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive.
