This will be a D-class crossover, which is planned to be presented towards the end of 2024, Oleg Maslyakov, production director of the capital’s automobile plant, said in an interview with RIA Novosti. This will be the fourth crossover in the brand’s line, which by that time will include Moskvich under the indices 3 and 3e, the Moskvich 6 liftback, and Moskvich 5. The latter should be put on the assembly line in the first half of next year.

It is expected that the Moskvich 8 will be based on the Chinese JAC X7, which was sold on the Russian market under the name S7, but recently disappeared from the line. In terms of dimensions, it is comparable to the Hyundai Santa Fe: it is 4776 millimeters in length, 1900 and 1760 millimeters in width and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2750 millimeters.

In the “base” the car was equipped with LED DRLs, electric rear-view mirrors, air conditioning and rear parking sensors, a rear view camera, 17-inch wheels and a multimedia system with a 12.3-inch screen.

The S7 was sold with an uncontested 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 149 horsepower, paired with a six-speed robot with two clutches. The crossover had only front-wheel drive.

Before Moskvich 8, Moskvich 5 should appear: a mid-size crossover larger than Moskvich 3 will hit the market in the first half of 2024. The JAC Sehol X6 will be used as a basis.
