The fourth generation model has been transformed inside and out, and in terms of technology it has been unified with the Volkswagen Passat. There are two fundamental innovations: firstly, an adaptive suspension has become available for an additional fee for the Superb, and secondly, a “mild hybrid” has appeared in the range for the first time. In addition, Superb production was moved from the Czech Republic to Slovakia – from now on the model will be assembled at the same plant as the Passat. In Europe, sales of the new product will begin in the spring of 2024.

The “fourth” Superb is built on the modular MQB Evo platform. If we compare the new model with its predecessor, it has grown in length, become slightly taller, but narrower, and the distance between the axles remains the same. The trunk volume has increased: for the liftback it is 645 liters (+20 liters), for the station wagon it is 690 liters (+30 liters). The interior has also become more spacious: there is more space above the heads of the driver and passengers.

Skoda notes that all the body panels of the Superb are new, and due to the larger angle of the windshield, aerodynamics have improved: the aerodynamic drag coefficient is reduced by 10-15 percent and is 0.23 for the liftback and 0.25 for the station wagon. You can distinguish the fourth generation model from the third by new optics, a modernized radiator grille and slightly different bumpers.

The interior looks more modern: already in the basic configuration, the Superb has a 10-inch diagonal digital instrument panel and a 10- or 13-inch multimedia system screen (depending on the performance level), and a projection display is also announced. The gearbox switch “moved” to the steering column, and physical “washers” Smart Dials with built-in screens appeared above the central tunnel. For the Combi version, an electric drive for the luggage curtain is offered.

The engine range is represented by three gasoline units with a volume of 1.5 to two liters with a capacity of 150, 204 and 265 horsepower and two-liter diesel engines with a capacity of 150 and 193 horsepower. The base petrol engine is complemented by a 48-volt starter-generator – a “mild hybrid” version offered for the Superb for the first time. The gearbox is a seven-speed DSG robot. All-wheel drive is available only on the most powerful modifications.

A plug-in hybrid also remains in the range, but now it is exclusively the Superb Combi station wagon. Its power plant includes a 1.5-liter turbo engine and an electric motor, which together develop 204 horsepower. The hybrid has front-wheel drive. The battery capacity is 25.7 kilowatt-hours. On pure electricity, this Superb Combi travels more than 100 kilometers.
