As calculated by Rosstat, during the month the factories assembled 64.3 thousand cars, which is 29.8 percent more than in August. Compared to the low base of September 2022, production growth is impressive – 2.7 times. In just nine months of 2023, about 358 thousand cars rolled off Russian assembly lines, which is 2.7 percent more than in the period from January to September last year.

Truck production grew 28.6 percent through August and 45.2 percent through September 2022. In a month, factories produced 17.1 thousand trucks, in nine months – 118 thousand (plus 14 percent).

The production of internal combustion engines is increasing: 18.1 thousand were produced in September – 17.9 percent more than in August and 16.1 percent more than the September 2022 result. However, based on the results of January-September, the figure lags behind last year’s by 16.7 percent.

The production of buses weighing up to five tons demonstrated a serious increase. Factories collected 2.2 thousand units in September (plus 5.9 percent by August and plus 96.1 percent by September 2022). And since the beginning of the year, 15.3 thousand have been released, exceeding last year’s result by 79.4 percent.

Earlier this week, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov told President Vladimir Putin about the restoration of the Russian auto industry. At the beginning of the year, he said, production was not “in the positive zone,” but now the production of cars is growing, as is the workload of factories.
