Equipping the car with four electric motors gives it enormous torque and allows each wheel to be controlled individually. This allows you not only to improve handling and maneuverability, but also, as shown in this video, to rotate 360 degrees in place.

We’ve seen several electric vehicles spin in place in recent years, including Rivian (the company didn’t include this option in the production model due to safety concerns). Now another electric car, the Zeekr 001 FR, has learned to turn on the spot.

FR is the top model in the Zeekr 001 line, a competitor to the Tesla Model S Plaid. Instead of three engines in the Tesla Plaid, the 001 FR has four. The total power of the FR is 1265 hp. and 1280 Nm of torque compared to 1020 hp. at Plaid. But the Tesla is faster: 322 km/h versus 280 km/h for the FR.

In addition to the powertrain, the FR differs from the regular 001 in its carbon fiber body kit, which includes a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and a rather large spoiler on the trunk lid. The roof and mirror housings are also made of carbon fiber.

Currently, FR is only available in China, but that may change soon. During a recent interview with Auto News Europe, Zeekr Europe Head of Product and Communications Alessandro Massimino said that Zeekr is currently assessing the cost of homologating the 001 FR for the European market.
