The Swedish brand reminded that the EM90 is not the first MPV in its history by publishing a fresh series of teasers. In them, the electric car is adjacent to the Volvo Duett minivan, which first entered the market in the middle of the last century. As far as can be judged from the three blurry pictures, the proportions of the models are similar, but the similarities between cars from different eras will probably be limited to this.

The Volvo Duett was created in 1953 through the efforts of engineer Eric Skoog based on the PV445 model. The name hinted at the possibility of using it in two areas of life – both work and family. The range included several versions, including a passenger station wagon and a delivery van.

Duett proved to be in demand on the market. Over 16 years of production, Volvo has sold more than 100 thousand units worldwide. The model was discontinued in 1969, but gave rise to the famous line of Volvo station wagons.

As for the modern minivan, it will be completely electric. The appearance of the EM90 has already been revealed thanks to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the People’s Republic of China, and the base for it will be the model 009 of the Zeekr brand, which, like Volvo, belongs to the auto giant Geely. At launch, the EM90 will be sold in a six-seater version with two electric motors, the peak output of which will be 544 horsepower. It is expected that the CATL traction battery will provide the van with a range of up to 820 kilometers on the Chinese CLTC cycle.

The Chinese market will be the main market for the EM90, where large cars with rich equipment are popular. Assembly will also take place there.
