A tuner from Russia presented a tuned GAZ-21 Volga in a coupe

Restoring a vintage car is a painstaking but exciting process. The owner of the GAZ-21, who decided to turn his Volga into a stylish coupe, knows this from his own experience.

It all started in the garage, where the car enthusiast started work on the bodywork. To give the car a coupe look, he cut the A-pillars by 10 cm, widened the front doors and welded the rear ones. It was necessary to adjust the dimensions of the wings, cornices and trunk. After that, the body was carefully cleaned and puttied.

This was followed by the modernization of the technical part. Instead of a native motor, a motorist installed a ZMZ-523 unit with a power of 124 hp. from the PAZ bus. This engine has a torque of 298 N * m – enough for a stylish coupe. It was decided to leave the gearbox stock.

To give the car a more sporty look, the ground clearance was lowered by installing multi-rack springs. Due to the increased weight, the cooling system had to be completely replaced, with a new radiator and additional fans installed. They also made the original stainless steel exhaust system.

The final chord was the painting of the body in two colors and the restoration of the interior. The seats and door cards have been restored with leather and fabric upholstery. The dashboard remained unchanged, but the dashboard received a leather covering. A new ceiling and steering wheel were integrated, and a modern radio tape recorder appeared on the console.

As a result, the motorist brought the idea to life by creating a stylish retro coupe based on the GAZ-21. Such projects are a real test of skill and patience. But the end result is worth it. (photo: www.drive2.ru)
