While many automakers are abandoning multi-cylinder engines in favor of hybrid powertrains, Aston Martin has announced a new generation of V12 turbo petrol engine. According to the British brand, the engine will be used in the most exclusive models – the engine is assembled by hand in limited quantities. Judging by the statement “All will be vanquished”, the first-born with this unit will be the new generation of the Aston Martin Vanquish sports car.

The new engine has undergone extensive modernization to achieve maximum performance. Hardware features of the new V12 engine include a strengthened cylinder block and connecting rods, redesigned cylinder heads with reprofiled camshafts, and new intake and exhaust ports.

Re-positioned spark plugs and new higher-flow fuel injectors provide optimized combustion for class-leading efficiency. New turbochargers have higher speed and reduced inertia.

“The V12 engine has long been a symbol of power and prestige, but it is also a testament to engineering passion and technical mastery. With 835 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, this unprecedented engine represents nothing less than the beginning of a dazzling new V12 era for Aston Martin,” said Aston Martin Technical Director Roberto Fedeli. Detailed information about the new unit will be disclosed during this year.
