The readiness of the budget family, which in the future will replace Granta on the market, is estimated at 80 percent. TASS writes about this with reference to the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov. Iskra will start production at the beginning of 2025, but before that we need to find local suppliers of several dozen components. They promised to hold the premiere in June as part of the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

AvtoVAZ has already started assembling and welding Iskra test bodies, Sokolov said. He also announced the amount of investment in the project to create a new Lada family – 37 billion rubles.

Iskra was first noticed on the AvtoVAZ assembly line in early April: it joined the Granta line. It was then reported that car bodies were being driven through a conveyor belt to fine-tune the necessary operations and train personnel. Before this, prototypes were assembled by hand.

Confirmed: the cheap Lada Iskra will still be shown in June AvtoVAZ has begun to develop a hybrid Lada AvtoVAZ cars may appear at Wildberries

The family of the new “state car” will include a sedan, a station wagon and a cross-station wagon, which will be built on the CMF-B-LS platform with imported parts. The appearance of the Iskra has already been revealed thanks to patents, as well as the technical equipment. The basic variants, according to insiders, will receive a 16-valve 1.6 engine and a five-speed manual transmission, while the top variants will receive an upgraded naturally aspirated 1.8 Evo.

Sokolov also mentioned a crossover based on Vesta. The design of the car is already “fixed” and it will be modern. AvtoVAZ is currently looking for suppliers of components. However, there is more work here, since the car is being built on an almost new platform – “completely domestic, AvtoVAZ.” Production of the Vesta crossover should start in 2026.
