The car will be the latest in the Ocean Series line, which already includes Seal, Dolphin and Seagull. Like its other representatives, the Sea Lion 07 received a Marine Aesthetics look, inspired by marine motifs and designed by Wolfgang Egger, the former head of the design department of the Audi brand. The new BYD SUV will be shown live on November 17 at the auto show in Guangzhou, China.
As can be seen in the sketches, the BYD Sea Lion 07 has characteristic e-shaped LED optics, reminiscent of those of the 530-horsepower Seal sedan, which competes with the Tesla Model 3. The hood looks more prominent, and below there are large air intakes of a different shape.

In profile you can see a sloping roof with a small visor and developed almost square wheel arches; at the rear there is an “aggressive” angular bumper that distinguishes the Sea Lion 07 from the minimalistic Seal.
The technical characteristics of the new product from BYD are still classified. It is expected that the price will start at 190 thousand yuan – the equivalent of 2.4 million rubles, which will make it cheaper than BYD Song L for 220 thousand (2.8 million). Sea Lion 07 will be much more affordable than the Tesla Model Y, which costs from 264 thousand yuan (3.3 million rubles).
However, BYD, which no longer produces fuel cars, has almost caught up with Tesla in sales of electric cars. The American manufacturer sold 435,059 “green” cars in the third quarter of the year, and BYD sold 431,603, lagging behind by only a few thousand. In 2022, BYD managed to sell 911 thousand electric vehicles, and Tesla – 1.3 million.
