The European organization checked the safety of the driver and passengers of battery-powered cars, as well as children during collisions. All presented models are available from Russian dealers. The BYD Dolphin electric hatchback received the highest rating, with safety ratings of 89 percent for adults and 87 percent for children. The rest of the electric cars also turned out to be great.

Experts said that the performance of driver assistance systems in BYD Dolphin was rated at 79 percent out of a hundred possible. In accident situations for pedestrians, the electric car earned 85 percent. In addition, experts emphasized that the model protects the driver, adult passengers, and children in almost any collision. The only drawback was the risk of injury to the driver’s chest in a frontal impact. BYD Dolphin, equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 95 horsepower, can be purchased from Russian sellers for 2.7-3 million rubles.

The BYD Seal electric sedan received the same five stars in the safety rating. The model received 89 percent for the safety of the driver and adult passengers, and 87 percent for children. The model was safe for pedestrians in 82 percent of cases. At the same time, electronic systems received 76 percent. BYD Seal, comparable in size to the Tesla Model 3, is available in Russia for 4.1–6 million rubles.

The final model in the Euro NCAP crash tests was the Xpeng P7, which was also rated at the highest possible points. During collisions, the safety of the driver and adult passengers inside the electric sedan reaches 87 percent. Children are 81 percent protected. Xpeng P7, depending on the configuration, is equipped with a power plant with a capacity of 267 to 430 horsepower. The cost of the model on the Russian market is from 6 to 7 million rubles.

At the beginning of September, the Chinese crossover BAIC X55, which is assembled in Russia, was tested in a series of crash tests. At the same time, experts tested a version intended for the Chinese market.
