Ferrari has unveiled the replacement for the 812 Superfast, a stylish front-engined grand tourer dubbed the 12Cilindri (Italian for “12 cylinders”).

Just look at the elongated hood and short roof capsule, the extended wheel arches and double lights. The only surprise is the dark insert between the headlights, outlined by straight lines, but this is a classic – a reference to the Ferrari 365 Daytona.

Already from the name it is clear that the Ferrari 12Cilindri is equipped with a 12-cylinder engine – and without any turbines or hybrids! The naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 produces 830 hp. and 678 Nm and at peak can reach 9500 rpm.

A key feature of the V12 is the use of titanium connecting rods, which reduce rotating mass by 40% compared to steel connecting rods. Ferrari also uses a new aluminum alloy for the pistons and installed a rebalanced and lighter crankshaft. Formula 1-derived steel valve tappets also feature a diamond-like carbon coating to reduce friction and improve engine mechanical efficiency.

Then the ultra-modern techno begins: all the power is sent to the 8-speed DCT robotic gearbox and to the rear wheels. By the way, the latter are equipped with a 4WS control mechanism and can be rotated in antiphase to the front ones. In addition, there is an SSC 8.0 wheel slip system and active aerodynamics with two settings, and the weight distribution is about 48/52 between the front/rear wheels.

The result of the new Ferrari 12 Cilindri Coupe lives up to expectations: acceleration 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/h. The Spider is a little slower, taking 2.95 seconds to reach 100 km/h. The Coupe weighs 1560kg, while the Spider weighs 1620kg.

And although modern electric cars demonstrate better dynamics, they can hardly offer as many emotions, which are transmitted to passengers through an amazing interior with two separate cockpits.

As with other Ferrari models, the 12Cilindri’s interior is dominated by large screens. There’s a 10.25-inch infotainment display in the center of the dash, while in front of the driver is a massive 15.6-inch display. For passenger convenience, an 8.8-inch display is also installed.

Buyers who prefer to listen to music rather than enjoy a V12 symphony can equip their car with a 15-speaker Burmester audio system.

Sales of the Ferrari 12Cilindri will start soon, the estimated cost is from 400 thousand euros (from 40 million rubles). At the same time as the coupe, an open version of the Ferrari 12 Cilindri Spider was also presented – such a car will cost about 10% more.
