At the Beijing Motor Show, the Korean brand showed the G80 EV Magma Concept sedan – it had a lowered suspension, a wider track, and added aerodynamic elements made of carbon fiber. Unlike the GV60 Magma, which was painted orange, Acme Blue was chosen for the new product. According to Genesis, this does not symbolize an electric powertrain, but a blue flame, which is hotter than red or orange.

The Genesis brand considers the Chinese market as a priority, so it is not surprising that the Koreans had two premieres at the Beijing Motor Show. Firstly, they showed the restyled Electrified G80 in the Vision Blue color, exclusive to China. Secondly, Genesis announced the local launch of the Magma line and showed a new concept – the G80 EV Magma.

The Electrified G80, which debuted three years ago in Shanghai, has been stretched by 130 millimeters especially for China. Moreover, as on a regular sedan, headlights with microlens technology and a modified radiator grille with a G-Matrix pattern appeared here. In addition, the four-wheel drive has acquired a 27-inch diagonal OLED display, a Bang & Olufsen audio system with 17 speakers and Ergo Motion massage seats on the second row.

The G80 EV Magma Concept is the second Genesis concept with the Magma prefix. Under this sub-brand they are going to sell “charged” versions of models to compete with BMW M and Mercedes-AMG. The “magmatic” sedan is painted in Acme Blue. The choice of color is simple: blue flames have a higher temperature than red or orange ones. The lowered suspension and widened track are combined with stronger brakes and a new aerodynamic body kit. The interior features quilted leather upholstery, Alcantara and blue-tinted carbon fiber inserts.

Genesis decided not to talk about the concept’s power plant. The regular Electrified G80 is driven by two electric motors, each producing 136 kilowatts (185 hp) and 350 Nm, and together – 272 kilowatts (370 hp) and 700 Nm. In sport mode, the four-door accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.9 seconds. Maximum speed is 225 kilometers per hour.
