This was hinted at on social media by Tank Deputy General Director Gu Yukun. The top manager confirmed: if there is sufficient demand, the “three hundredth” will have a “heavy” fuel engine, and the “four hundredth” will have a non-hybrid version with a gasoline engine. Since Tank SUVs are super successful in China, it is only a matter of time before it evaluates purchasing power and develops new products.

A year ago, Gu Yukun confirmed in an interview with Motor that Tank had a request for diesel engines. However, first, Great Wall decided to offer hybrid power plants for the premium brand: quieter, more modern and environmentally friendly. At the same time, for the Tank 300 the hybrid was offered in a limited edition, so formally there is no contradiction. In addition, the “three hundredth” is sold in Australia, Russia and South Africa, where diesel engines are in demand.

Great Wall will offer a Tank 700 in Russia with a unique filling Test of the Tank 300’s cross-country ability in merciless mud Tank will add a huge traction battery to the 500 SUV

There is no intrigue regarding the engine: the “three hundredth” will probably have a new GW4D24 turbodiesel with a displacement of 2370 cubic centimeters, which produces 184 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque on platform pickups. The unit can be combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with a front clutch. As for the Tank 400, it will most likely get a petrol 2.0-liter turbo-four.

Chinese journalists believe that Gu Yukun’s statements are a kind of teaser, and decisions to release the diesel Tank 300 and non-hybrid Tank 400 have already been made. Perhaps the crowdfunding method will again be used to assess market demand: for example, before the development of the six-cylinder Tank 300, applications were collected with deposits of 20 thousand yuan ($2800).
