Electric cars from South Korean brands Hyundai and Kia will become cheaper from October

Information regarding two South Korean brands has become available to Western media. We are talking about Hyundai and Kia. The company reportedly plans to significantly reduce prices for “green” versions of models. Due to this, they plan to increase buyer interest in electric vehicles. It is especially worth noting that this news applies exclusively to South Korea.

As for Hyundai, its models will become eight percent cheaper. This innovation will affect Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kona EV. Thus, it is reported that the first will be available to buyers with a price tag of 2.875 million rubles, which just demonstrates a reduction in cost by the stated eight percent. The difference will be compensated through subsidies.

Kia announced a similar price reduction. The EV6, Niro EV and Niro Plus will reportedly get more affordable price tags. The new prices will begin to apply next month and will last until the end of this year. Although demand for electrified models is growing around the world, South Korea has seen a slight decline in sales this year. Thus, 67,654 electric vehicles were sold this year, while last year – 71,744 (photo: Hyundai; Kia).
