The compact sports car Alfa Romeo 4C was in production from 2013 to 2020 and during these years less than ten thousand copies of the coupe and roadster were made, so the model could not be called popular, which predetermined its fate on the assembly line. But already in the current decade, the car may return to the market, albeit in a format rethought in the spirit of the times – with an electric power plant and with a new name. This is expected to happen no earlier than 2027.

Alfa Romeo’s head of product, Daniel Guzzafame, confirmed that the Italian automaker is determined to keep the compact and lightweight sports car in its lineup. There are no such cars yet, but work is underway to bring back the coupe.

And it will be an electric car. It is expected that the model will receive the name Alfa Romeo 4E to emphasize continuity with the Alfa Romeo 4C, but this is not a final decision yet and everything may change – it is possible that the new product will be called the historical name Spider.

The company intends to release an electric sports car to compete with the future generations of the Alpine A110 and Porsche Boxster and the upcoming Lotus Elise. No technical characteristics of the new product have yet been announced, but the future Alfa Romeo electric sports car will obviously be widely unified in terms of platform and units with other electric cars of the Stellantis concern.
