Bentley Mulliner has unveiled its third coachbuilding project in modern history, the Batur Convertible. The model will be released in a limited edition of 16 copies. In addition to its bespoke design, the Batur Convertible will be one of the last Bentleys to be powered by the 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine.

As the name suggests, the new model is a drop-top variant of the Batur coupe with a redesigned rear end. The highlight is the integrated ducktail spoiler and body-colored skid plate behind the headrests. Unlike the Bacalar Barchetta, the Batur Convertible features a power soft top.

With the help of Mulliner, each piece will be customized to the owner’s taste. Some of the coolest options include 3D printed rose gold interior inserts, created in collaboration with expert jewelers. Bentley says there are an “endless” number of color options available, with customers able to “choose the color and finish of virtually every surface of the Batur Convertible.”

The car in the photographs is an engineering prototype numbered No. 0. Mulliner chose vibrant Vermillion Gloss and Satin exterior colors paired with Carbon Fiber and Gloss Dark Titanium accents throughout the body.

Under the hood is a hand-built 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine that produces 740 hp. (552 kW) and 1000 Nm of torque. These numbers were achieved thanks to a redesigned intake system, upgraded turbos, new intercoolers, extensive recalibration and a titanium exhaust system. Note that the plant will cease production this summer to make way for Bentley’s electrified future.

The company hasn’t revealed prices, but we expect each of the 16 examples of the Batur Convertible to cost more than £2 million. By comparison, each of the 18 units of the Batur Coupe had a base price of £1.65 million, while each of the 12 Bacalar units started at £1.5 million.
