Rolls-Royce is launching the updated Cullinan SUV, which, according to British tradition, has received the designation Series II.

The base Cullinan and its sporty Black Badge variant continue to use the V12. The twin-turbocharged engine produces 563 hp. in the standard version and 592 hp. in the Black Badge version.

Visually, the updated model is easily identified by the overhanging edges of the daytime running lights, which Rolls-Royce says are inspired by city skyscrapers. The front bumper is also new, but the more important change is the addition of an illuminated grille.

The updated interior features a full-size digital instrument cluster similar to what we saw on the Specter and a tiny Spirit of Ecstasy figurine placed under the clock. New trim materials include natural ash painted grey, viscose bamboo fabric and a perforated seat pattern designed to resemble the clouds above Rolls-Royce’s Goodwood headquarters.

Black Badge is receiving similar changes. It is distinguished by the radiator grille and side window surrounds, made in black instead of chrome. The rear bumper, tailgate elements, and exhaust pipes are finished in black chrome with a mirror effect, and the diameter of the wheels is 23 inches.

Inside, there’s the same digital instrument panel, but the pocket-sized Spirit of Ecstasy is finished in black rather than chrome, and the interior features carbon trim that requires six coats of varnish and 21 days to complete in 23 parts. The Black Badge also gets more aggressive throttle and transmission calibrations, as well as reduced brake pedal travel.
