In the summer of 2023, Hyundai declassified the most powerful electric hatchback Ioniq 5 N – the electric sports car debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in its road version, and in February next year the Hyundai Ioniq 5 eN1 Cup will be shown. The new modification, announced at the N Festival event, will become an electric racing car for the branded mono cup created by the South Korean automaker. The start of South Korea’s first mono-cup racing competition for electric cars is scheduled for May 2024.

Visually, the Ioniq 5 eN1 Cup differs from the base hatchback in its developed aerodynamic body kit with a developed splitter, a massive diffuser and a large wing, 18-inch wheels with racing slick tires. The electric car will receive an adjustable suspension with ground clearance reduced to 70 millimeters and enhanced braking mechanisms.

The racing hatchback will be lighter by about 200-250 kilograms due to the abandonment of interior trim and the installation of polycarbonate glazing. This will include an FIA-certified safety cage, additional battery protection with a battery shutdown system when overheating, and an integrated pneumatic jack will be installed.

No technical modifications have been announced, so it is likely that the mono-Cup Ioniq 5 eN1 Cup will retain its twin-engine 650-horsepower setup. The N E-Shift function is announced, which simulates the behavior of an eight-speed dual-clutch “robot” and a special version of the N Active Sound+ system, which will allow each team in the series to create their own recognizable “exhaust system” soundtrack.
