The average cost of used cars under 15 years old increased by 2.3 percent in October, breaking a new psychological mark, Izvestia reports, citing a study by Avto.ru Otsenka. The most noticeable increase in the price on the secondary market was not for foreign cars, but for the domestic Lada (VAZ) 2131: it rose in price by eight percent to an average of 515 thousand rubles.
Used Renault Logan, Honda Stepwgn and Volkswagen Jetta increased in price by seven percent, their average prices in October amounted to 749 thousand, 2.2 million and 1.4 million rubles, respectively. Kia Rio and Hyundai Getz added six percent each (669 thousand and 581 thousand rubles).
Premium foreign cars, on the contrary, are becoming cheaper. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class, for example, has become four percent cheaper, as have the BMW 5 Series and Lexus NX. Used Chery Tiggo 4 and Toyota Corolla have become three percent more affordable: both are sold for an average of 1.8 million rubles.
Also among used cars that have lost in price are Changan UNI-T (minus three percent, average cost – 1.9 million rubles), Mercedes-Benz GLC (minus three percent, 5.2 million), Audi Q8 ( minus two percent, 7.9 million) and Kia Sorento (minus two percent, 2.9 million).
New cars fell in price in October. Their weighted average price in the second month of autumn dropped to 2.89 million rubles, as calculated by Autostat. It has been decreasing for the second month in a row: in September the figure decreased by 100 thousand rubles.
