Electric motorcycles of domestic design, which are already available for pre-order, have arrived at the Special Purpose Garage – NAMI said that the FSO has received 11 escort Merlons. According to the Avtopotok telegram channel, they are equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 190 horsepower and travel 200 kilometers on a single battery charge. The civilian version of the Merlon will go on sale next year.

The electric Aurus Merlon for the government motorcade was presented in 2022. At the same time, it was confirmed that the motorcycle accelerates from zero to “hundreds” in 3.7 seconds, and its top speed is 200 kilometers per hour. The developers claimed that Merlon would be able to function at subzero temperatures – down to minus 25 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the version for accompanying motorcades, Aurus will release a civilian version of the motorcycle; there will also be versions of heavy motorcycles for performing other tasks, including for units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Also patented in 2021 was a side trailer for the Merlon with an aerodynamic cover and an almost full-width horizontal canopy.

During this year, 40 Merlon units will be built – 20 with a sidecar trailer, which will be equipped with an additional battery, and 20 without it. Merlon’s localization rate is 80 percent.

According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the civilian version of Aurus Merlon will be 10-12 million rubles. However, this price was announced last fall, so by the time the motorcycles are released in 2025, it may change.
