This is the Oting Palaso SUV, which is an analogue of the Nissan Navara with an “extended” roof and is produced at the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture in China. The first copies of a car with a Mitsubishi engine are already in the country, and, according to Avtovzglyad, with a pickup body. Sales will start in the third quarter of 2024, approximately in September.

Palaso wears Dongfeng nameplates, but it should appear on the Russian market under the Oting brand, a subsidiary of Sinomach Automobile. Now it sells the Paladin frame SUV in Russia at a price of 3,799,000 rubles – this is a double of the Dongfeng and Nissan SUV of the same name. For Russians, its name was written in Cyrillic, and it is possible that this move will be applied to Palaso.

Palaso is equipped with the same units as the Paladin. It is driven by a two-liter supercharged Mitsubishi 4K31 engine, producing 218 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque and adapted for AI-92 gasoline. It is paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission; the drive is a rigidly connected all-wheel drive with a reduction gear and differential locks. The Palaso has an independent double-wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link at the rear.

Oting has plans for other models for Russia. The closest ones are a full-size SUV (perhaps this is the Palaso, if it does reach Russia with a closed body), and a compact crossover. And in the second quarter of 2025, a pickup truck powered by “new energy sources” should join the lineup.

The brand entered the Russian market only in February. Meanwhile, giants such as Haval, Chery and Geely began to lose customers: sales fell in April, and brands have already begun to further reduce prices to spur them on.
