The new generation frame BAIC BJ40 turned out to be better than the Tank 300, popular in the Russian Federation
At the Guangzhou Motor Show, the Chinese brand BAIC presented a new generation of the BJ40 SUV with a frame structure. The model received a more modern design and equipment compared to its predecessor, and also turned out to be more affordable than its main competitor – the Tank 300 from Great Wall.
The BJ40 has an impressive ground clearance of 230 mm, a wading depth of 750 mm and good approach, departure and hill climbing angles. The dimensions of the model are 4790/1940/1929 mm with a wheelbase of 2760 mm. In terms of size and cross-country ability, the BJ40 is actually similar to the Tank 300. But in terms of interior equipment and comfort, the BJ40 differs profitably – it has frameless doors, double-layer glass, a separate passenger footrest and a large touch screen. There are also unusual features unusual for the class, such as the double-leaf 5th door and power window buttons on the armrests.
Under the hood, the BJ40 has a 234-horsepower 2.0 turbo engine with an 8-speed gearbox. All-wheel drive with reduction gear and inter-wheel differential locks provides better cross-country ability. The new BAIC BJ40 compares favorably with the Tank 300 both in cost and equipment. (photo: BAIC)
