The American company Lucid Motors has finally introduced the second model, which will soon join the Air sedan. The Gravity crossover, which debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, is described by its creators as “an unprecedented combination of space and agility, luxury and versatility.” It boasts impressive aerodynamics and range while boasting a spacious cabin that can seat up to seven adults.

Lucid Gravity repeated the main external features of the Air sedan, introduced three years ago and well received on the market. It’s a sleek crossover with a drag coefficient of less than 0.24, which Lucid claims is a record for three-row SUVs. The four-seater Tesla Model X has it at the same level.

Lucid has decided to keep some characteristics secret for now. For example, Gravity promises “the most powerful electric motors produced in the world,” but their output is not disclosed. But it is known that the acceleration time from zero to 60 miles (97 kilometers) per hour will be less than 3.5 seconds, and the maximum weight of transported cargo and towed trailer will be 680 kilograms and 2.7 tons, respectively. The battery capacity has not been announced either. But it should also be impressive: it will be half the size of “some big-battery competitors,” Lucid says.

The basic version of Gravity will travel up to 482 kilometers on one charge, the “top” version – 708. This is noticeably more than the Model X maximum of 560 kilometers. Like the Air, the battery operates at 900 volts, so 15 minutes will be enough to top up the battery for 200 miles from the ultra-fast charger.

The crossover received a suspension called Zero Gravity with a zero-gravity mode that automatically adapts to different surfaces, adjusting the ground clearance. This not only makes the trip more comfortable, but also saves range.

The three-row cabin features a Clearview cockpit that updates over the air. Like the Air sedan, it consists of two displays, but the lower one is oriented portrait-style. The same 34-inch OLED screen with instrument and navigator functions is installed in front of the driver.

With the second and third row seats folded, the volume of space will increase to almost 3.2 cubic meters, which is noticeably higher than the same Model X – 2.3 cubic meters, but inferior to the Cadillac Escalade IQ by 0.2 cubic meters. The second row has folding tables, and the rear seats do not just fold, but are removed flush with the floor.

The comfort of passengers is ensured by the Lucid Sanctuary entertainment set, as well as Lucid Spaces – presets that imitate the calming atmosphere of American natural parks in the cabin and even help you meditate without leaving the car.

As for the price of Gravity, Lucid promised to keep it within 80 thousand dollars (7.2 million rubles). The crossover will hit the assembly line at the end of 2024. At the same time, the company notes that the pre-production stage is still underway, and therefore some characteristics may be changed.
