The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been produced since 1979 and, in fact, the model experienced its only generation change in 2018. A revolution in the history of Gelendvagen is planned for the coming 2024. The Mercedes-Benz EQG model, which will join the brand’s EQ family of hybrids and electric vehicles, will become a production version of the iconic SUV with an electric powertrain. The pre-production prototype has already been tested by the head of the German automaker Ola Kallenius.

Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group Ola Källenius took the wheel of a camouflaged prototype in Austria. The electric Gelendvagen was tested on a rocky path on Mount Schökl. The main announced feature of the model was the G Turn mode.

The German automaker has already announced the appearance of a four-engine power plant on the Mercedes-Benz EQG with the ability to individually distribute traction across the wheels, which will provide the electric car with the ability to turn on the spot. Apparently, the mode will be activated by pressing a button using the left steering column switch.

In the video, Kallenius showed the SUV turning 360 degrees in place, but it will also be possible to turn 90 degrees. For now, this is only the little that is known about the upcoming new product – no technical information about the electric SUV has yet been officially announced.
